By the
end of 2003 the district has a registered population of 458,282
among which 230,718 are male and 227,564 are female. The registered
population of Qingpu Town has reached 111,429 with an increase of
1.09 % over the last year. The newly born population of the district
in the whole year is 2,441 with a birthrate of 5.32 ก๋ and an
increase of 0.25 milli-points over the last year. The natural
population growth rate is -1.72 ก๋, a decrease of 0.19 milli-points
over the last year, thus having achieved a continuous negative
increase of the natural population increase in the past 7
consecutive years since 1997. The planned birthrate in 2003 reached
99.63 % and one child family rate was 96.97 %, two children family
rate was 3.03 % among the newly born population.
By sampling census in 2003, the district had
actually 270,000 nonnative floating population with an increase of
102,000 over the 5th population census in 2000. 168,000 of the
nonnative floating population had lived in Shanghai for over one
year.
