The
whole district owned 380 medical and health establishments of
various kinds and grades in 2003, among which 27 are public or
subordinated to the district  public health bureau, 4 are
run by the local units, 33 are privately-run, 40 are run by
enterprises themselves, 275 are village-run clinics, and 1
first-graded comprehensive hospital. There are all together 2,373
medical technicians in the public health system of Qingpu District,
with 1,674 certified berths of which 1,781 berths are actually  open to use.
The
rural medical cooperative system got further consolidated in 2003
with the establishment of district and town administration centers
for medical cooperative funds. And the coverage of town and village
medical cooperative service continued to be 100
%.
The district set up 1 first-class public
health town of municipal level, 2 second-class public health town of
municipal level and 16 municipal-level public health villages in the
whole year.
