With its unique geological advantage and natural resources, Qingpu has made remarkable achievements in developing its agricultural tourism resources in the process of agricultural structure adjustment and transformation from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture and urban agriculture.
Qingpu has good foundation for agricultural tourism. Its beautiful rural atmosphere, natural ecological environment, rich water culture, unpretending farming culture and age-old history give birth to the unique agricultural tourism resources in Qingpu. In recent years, under guidance, development and protection, Qingpu formed a series of agricultural scenic spots with distinctive features integrating field scenery, ploughing and planting experience, leisure and entertainment, dining and accommodation. These scenic spots include the Qingpu Modern Farmland, the Zhujiajiao Water Town Ecological Agricultural Tourism Scenic Spots, the Pleasure-in-Farmhouse in Jinjia Village of Xiayang Neighborhood, the Jinze Shatian Lake Ecological Park, the Jingui Island, the Zhaotun Strawberry Base, the Zhujiajiao Bonsai Garden, the Qinya Ecological Park and the Dianshan Lake Fishing Village. For instance, with vast area and advanced facilities, the modern rural atmosphere of the Qingpu Modern Farmland demonstrates the charm of urban agriculture and the sentiment of returning to nature to full; the Zhujiajiao Ecological Agricultural Tourism Scenic Spots and the Water Town exist harmoniously and enhance each other; the Pleasure-in-Farmhouse in Jinjia Village of Xiayang Neighborhood enables tourists to experience the rural life; in the Qinya Ecological Park, the unique grass house, fragrant grass and rural meals place tourists in a fictitious land of peace, away from the turmoil of the world; in the Jinze Shatian Lake Aquatic Product Ecological Park, tourists can enjoy the life of fisherman on the boat, casting net by themselves and learning the skills of catching fishes and crabs; in the Dianshan Lake Fishing Village and Farmhouse, the water with spirit arouses the inspiration of tourists, while ecological fishes and green vegetables bring them back to their childhood; the Zhaotun Strawberry Base welcomes more than one thousand tourists from Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces during the "May Day" holiday week. They come here mainly for enjoying the pleasure of harvest in picking strawberries. It is learnt that just in the 7 days during the holiday, calculated by 1.5 kilograms per person, farmers in Zhaotun sold more than 1500 kilograms strawberries in total.
According to statistics, more than 10 agricultural scenic spots in Qingpu have been developed and the agricultural tourism has been initially formed. The number of tourists has been increased year after year, with the reception number of 300,000 for agricultural tourism in 2006. In order to further boost its agricultural tourism, according to the principle of the "Third and First" industrial chain and mutual complements, Qingpu actively implements the new round of agricultural tourism planning by combining agriculture with tourism, farmland with garden. To become a highlight and a brand of Shanghai tourism industry, it will also manage to form an agricultural tourism service center in 2010, with the reception number of 1 million per year.
