This year's May Day Holiday
is the first shortened one after the national legal holiday
adjustment. According to statistics, the five 4A tourism resorts
(spots) in Qingpu District received 97,000 tourists in total, a rise
of 11.3% compared with the same period last year, and the tourism
income was about RMB43.65 million. Outlets received about 70,000
tourists, with the sales revenue of around RMB24 million.
The general trend of this year's May Day Holiday was the hot
medium-distance and short-distance tours, growing self-service
travel of families and friends, and the widely-chosen self-drive
travel. During the shortened holiday, it was difficult to find
parking space in the District's major tourism resorts (spots) and
Outlets. The 2 parking lots of Outlets with a full capacity of about
8,000 cars and the 3 parking lots of Zhujiajiao still could not meet
the parking needs. Outside the Oriental Land, even the green land
near the national highway was full of cars.
Since the shortened three-day May Day Holiday, the visitors to
the District are mostly from Shanghai. Abundant tourism resources
and featured tourism products are major choices of Shanghai
citizens. During the three-day-holiday, a large number of tourists
(75% of them are from Shanghai) were attracted by the kites
exhibition game in the Oriental Land, the water town ancient postmen
performance by Zhujiajiao Post Office of the Qing Dynasty and the
theme activity of "Exotic Red Mansion Performance" in the Grand View
Garden.
Among the first batch of memorials free to the public, the
Chenyun's Memorial Hall received over 3,700 tourists during the
holiday, 80% more over the same period last year. The Memorial Hall
has witnessed a big change in the composition of visitors with
increased individual tourists, most of whom are common citizens. The
tourists prefer to choose rural tourism, beautiful natural
environment and green land of the District for their relaxation and
vacation. Other scenic spots of rural tourism within the District
received about 25,000 tourists, a number of whom were attracted by
Dianshan Lake Avenue and the Dadian Lake Scenic Greenland.
