After 11-day exhibition
since June 1 at the Shanghai Arts and Crafts Museum at 79 Fenyang
Road, the 2008 Straits Bamboo Carving Art Exchange Exhibition, with
the theme of "Bamboo Carving Art", will continue its show at
Zhujiajiao Handicraft Exhibition centre from June 12 till the end of
July.
The art exhibition features more than bamboo carving works of ten
masters from Taiwan, including Chen Chunming, Weng Mingchuan, Lai
Jinyi, Liu Changhong, Shi Huimin and domestic masters Xu Bingfang,
Xu Bingyan, Liu Shuoshi, Ye Yusun and Pan Feng. Besides, more than
30 MA and PhD papers, academic papers and other research results are
to be read or discussed at a symposium on bamboo carving during the
exhibition. The Shanghai Arts and Crafts Trade Association (SACA),
the sponsor of the current exchange exhibition, will take the
opportunity to push the preparation for the "Yingge Ceramics"
exhibition in Taiwan, one of its moves to expand new field of arts
and crafts exchanges.
It is learnt that, China's centuries-old traditional bamboo
carving arts and craftworks, gain a high reputation all over the
world for its long-standing traditional cultures elements in bamboo
carving art or in bamboo-made craftworks and other daily
necessities. The opening of the art exchange exhibition will turn
out to be a beneficial experiment in exploring the exchanges between
urban and suburban exhibition centres and the industrial
transformation of arts and crafts, developing the "fashion industry"
with the demand of metropolitan residents, high technological
content and low resources consumption, and excellent traditional art
and craft elements.
