Forerunner in Smart Transformation of Traditional Manufacturing
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of SIM Technology Group, a Chinese leading mobile communication and IOT enterprise, Shanghai Chenxing Ximutong Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. (Ximutong Electronic) went public on the main board of the HKEX in 2005. SIM is based in Shanghai and establishes branches in Beijing, Shenyang, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, with about 4,000 employees and clients of over 80 counties and regions across the world. Ximutong Electronic specializes in development and production of IOT wireless communication modules and cell phones as well as automatic robots design and manufacturing. The company occupies an area of 113 mu (1 mu equals to 666.7 square meters) including the modern workshop of 100,000 square meters, boasting of ten advanced production lines, the front-end SMT and back-end packaging capability of cell phone main board and supporting skills of key components including display modules and touch screen.
In 2012, SIM decided to gear itself to robot smart manufacturing and started with its own cell phone and communication module plants as test bases. And it succeeded in replacing arrays of unskilled workers with the full-auto production equipments and logistics system integrated with standard robots, visual system and other parts. Then, SIM achieved the overall digitalization of equipments based on the phrased implementation of unmanned factory by reference to the ideas of Industrial 4.0 and China Manufacturing 2025, accessed itself to the industrial Internet for the bus-mastering and made the whole production processes information-based, smart and connected to Internet through PCS 、MES and ERP systems. It saved the company a great deal of resources, cut down the costs and significantly improved the quality standard and production efficiency.
Afterwards, SIM also exported its own renovation achievements to its peers. At present, most of the twenty largest cell phone manufacturers in China have shared its achievements by purchasing SIM’s smart manufacturing equipments. The market has first approved SIM’s demonstration effect, which led SIM’s smart plant to be one of the 63 demonstration pilots for smart manufacturing in 2016, out of the only four Shanghai companies, by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The only private company as it is, Ximutong Electronic was listed along with other three state-owned giants of Shanghai, living up to its powerful strength in smart manufacturing and the outstanding achievements made by it. To Create Value for Clients
In recent years, with the coming of the Lewis Turning Point, the labor cost is skyrocketing, and China’s manufacturing faces unprecedented challenges. The manufacturing and processing sector comes to realize that AI will turn out to be the new engine driving economic growth. However, most manufacturers in the market are incapable of reforming production lines on their own. It was in such a context that SIM seized the opportunity and invested plenty of manpower and material resources in facilitating transformation and upgrading of its plants. In the cause of transformation, SIM started with launching a series of automatic standalone equipments in cell phone and CCC manufacturers. When the standalone automation in place, it independently developed the system software platform based on digital enterprise structure including MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and WMS (Warehouse Management System) and established an industrial Internet platform with equipments all interconnected. On this platform, SIM continued to work on smart bunker and AGV smart logistics equipment. These installations accessed manufacturers to information-based management in links of tickets planning, material management, equipment management, workflow management, notification and abnormity alarming, making the production processes and data visual, controllable and traceable and literally building the smart factory with automation, digitalization and network connection all through the production line.
SIM then helped a large number of manufacturers upgrade and renovate their production lines by utilizing its own reform achievements and created direct values for its clients. After purchasing the smart equipment, clients could cover the cost in half a year to two years and it will cut down the labor cost by 60% to 90% and substantially improve products quality and workers’ working environment.
