On New Year’s Day, many citizens get up early to participate in the “2018 New Year’s Hike”. Taking the new line, Shanghai Metro Line 17, they stop at Oriental Land Station where they will embrace New Year with the idea of hiking for a green and healthy life.
At around seven o’clock, citizens wearing unified outfit with fluorescent vests marking the logo of “Hiking on New Year” can be found getting in Qingpu Xincheng Station gradually. It may be the first time for many people to take Line 17, on which they enjoy its convenience and efficiency and talk heartily about dramatic changes of Qingpu. Some of them take out phones and photograph the first light on 2018. It takes about 16 minutes from Qingpuxincheng to Oriental Land, whose main entrance is right in front as you step out of the station.
The hiking activity initiates at 08:30. Citizens move along the winding boulevard, appreciating the scene all the way. Out of the Shanghai Water Sports Center, views suddenly become extensive and enlightened. Here comes another highlight of “Rainbow Bridge above Dianshan Lake”. This 1.47 km-long water corridor with a floor 8m-wide is a vital part of Dianshan Lake project which targets the wetland construction and the ecological restoration in the east coast. Fresh breezes stir up gently glittering water, above which Rainbow Bridge casts its captivating shadow upon the emerald waves. Hiking citizens are so pleased by the fine view that they forget about physical tiredness and take group photos for memory.
