  • Qingpu Promotes Exhibition Industry upon Unity for Greeting CIIE
  • 38 exhibitions have been accumulatively organized in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC for short) in 2017, with exhibition area of 4.7 million square meters and 5.01 million person-times for visiting. Covering area of 690,000 square meters, 42 events have been held here, with a year-on-year increase of 26.7 % in terms of operation scale. The exhibition area in Qingpu takes over 30% that of Shanghai. Thereinto, 18 large-sized exhibitions covering area of more than 100,000 square meters were held in the district, which takes a half of that in Shanghai. The District Economic Commission (the Commission) constantly promotes exhibition industry, so as to accelerate undertaking of industrial spillover effect and solidly implement the following five measures.

    Firstly, it is to maintain safety for industry management and to strengthen safety supervision for the NECC. It is necessary to reinforce awareness of sponsors and organizers concerning about emergency response schemes, responsibilities for activity organization and fire precaution and the like, as well as supervise the NECC to maintain safety management. Moreover, the Commission commits to organizing relevant authorities to implement inspection on safety production and co-working for local guarantee coordination. Secondly, it is to highlight industrial platform function to link up with resources of the primary industry, the secondary industry and the tertiary industry. Organizing 17 enterprises to participate in industry fair embracing exhibition area of nearly 300 square meters, the Commission has held “the 1st Qingpu Tour by New Materials Universities & Enterprises” and the “2016 Forum for New Material Industry Innovation and Development of China International Industry Fair (CIIF)”, thus granted with the “Excellent Organization Award for New Materials Industry Exhibition of the 18th CIIF” by the Organization Committee. Thirdly, it is to innovate support policies for encouraging clustering of enterprises on chains, so as to constructing well-rounded policy backups for exhibition industry including exhibition and conference attraction, settlement of related enterprises, exhibition backups at home and aboard as well as reward for exhibition parks. The Commission has supported 274 projects in succession, with oversea exhibition projects obtaining municipal backup of 2,660,000 yuan plus various district-level subsidies exceeding 11 million yuan in total. Fourthly, it is to produce work mechanism for investment attraction and dig out industrial development vigor. Thus the “Opinions on Promoting Completion of Significant Investment Attraction Projects in Qingpu” and the “Implementation Measures on Appraisal and Reward for Investment Attraction through Commerce in Qingpu” are released upon research and formulation. In addition, the “Seminar for Exhibition Industry and Economic Development of Qingpu” was held to build a platform for joint communication among the government, exhibition institutes and exhibition enterprises. The Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Industries Association has been located in the district, bringing along crucial benefits for investment attraction via platform. Lastly, it is to diligently and initially connect with authority work for accelerating plan for greeting the China International Import Expo (CIIE). The first CIIE will be held in the NECC on November 5-10, 2018, breaking a new high in politics and economics. To seize opportunities, the Commission upholds guarantees and industries, coordinating with the Municipal Commission of Commerce to compile the “General Scheme for City Guarantee of CIIE”. All this aims to enhance connection with the municipality-level authorities in terms of safety guarantee, smooth exiting and entering of exhibition products and commercial traders as well as all-in-one trading service platform for “6 days + 365 days”.
