2018 Craft Industry Exposition and ICH Traditional Arts Exhibition Opened
The “2018 Craft Industry Exposition and Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH for short) of Traditional Arts Exhibition” have been recently opened at the World Handicraft Industry Expo in Xujing. Thousands of people from the culture, art, collection and business sectors across the country gathered in Qingpu to admire the 2018 cultural attractions.
Officials attending the opening ceremony included Su Shishu, Standing Member of the CPPCC and Chair of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, Chen Yuehua, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Culture Innovation Office, Zhao Huiqin, Chief of the CPC Qingpu District Committee, Jiang Daorong, Standing Member and Publicity Director of the CPC District Committee, and Wang Lingyu, Deputy District Governor.
In her speech, Zhao expressed the hope that people would further understand the traditional Chinese culture through the exhibition and make more people willing to become ICH witnesses and even inheritors. It is also hoped that the World Handicraft Expo will build a comprehensive and innovative cultural platform integrating such functions as cultural services, cultural exchanges and cultural exhibitions with the help of the traditional skills exhibition, and will achieve the unified development of social benefits and economic benefits, playing a greater role in exploring the business model and leading the demonstration.
Covering a total area of about 30,000 square meters, the exhibition includes such themed booths as Chinese jade carvings, agalwood carvings, ceramics and dark-red enamels, braided embroidery as well as classical furniture. Meanwhile, it is integrated into special topics including the “60th Anniversary of National Jade-carving Masters Exhibition for North Jades”, “the Lin Masters -- Art Retrospective Exhibition of Lin Hengyun and Art Achievement Exhibition of Lin Fei and Lin Dong”, Shanghai exhibition of the “B&R Initiatives” calligraphy tour and jade carvings retrospective exhibition of masters’ masterpieces entitled “the Road of Jade”. Different cultural patterns added radiance and beauty to each other.
During the exhibition, some other grand events will be held as well, including the assessment of excellent exhibition works for “National Craftsman Cup”, “2018 Hongqiao Culture Forum”, the preparatory meeting for “2018 World Handicraft Import Expo”, a high-end forum on global art wealth management of the China Art and Craft Exchange Center, the National Sculpture Forum, the National Craftsman Forum and the World Hello Art and Finance Forum. All this aims to promote the inheritance of Chinese arts and crafts, innovate the exhibition of comprehensive culture and art, and promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture toward the world class.
