The District Fire Detachment and the District Tourism Bureau have recently carried out a drill of contingency and fire emergency for the district’s tourist hotel industry in 2018 at Crowne Plaza Shanghai Xiayang Lake, in order to enhance the ability of the tourist hotel industry to handle emergencies, and to better escort the success of the CIIE.
The drill presents the stimulated scene that a fire occurs at the first floor of Crowne Plaza, and the fire-control room immediately sends an emergency response team to check the situation on the site. After confirming the fire alarm, the volunteer fire brigade calls 119, and reports to the hotel operator to inform the Crisis Management Committee of Crowne Plaza. The General Manager of Crowne Plaza arrives at the fire-control room to carry out the on-site command. When arriving at the scene, the volunteer fire brigade opens the hydrant and holds a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire. Meanwhile, they manipulate the on-site fire-fighting equipment as a whole, making forced landing of elevators, placing down the smoke barriers, and ringing the alarm bell. During the process of fire extinguishing, they immediately report to the fire-control room to request the full evacuation when finding that it is hard to extinguish the heavy fire. The people in need of rescue stand by the window on the 3rd floor, and immediately wave the towels to call for help when seeing the fire engine enters. The firefighters use the firefighting nozzle to spray water from down to up side as soon as the fire engine arrives at the scene, and some are sent to enter the hotel for rescue.
Before the drill, the professional firefighters explained to the staff the importance of fire safety and how to deal with emergencies in the case of large passenger flow, as well as the types, performance and operation of firefighting equipment.
